South Bowie Library Mini S.T.E.A.M. Fair
South Bowie Library was buzzing with S.T.E.A.M., smiles, and sparks of brilliance! Throughout this past season, My Brother’s Teacher and Hey Dr. Tay hosted a series of high-energy Mini S.T.E.A.M. Fairs that turned the library into a laboratory of imagination.
Proudly supported by the 2026 Bowie Community Outreach Grant, these events brought hands-on discovery to the heart of our neighborhood, proving that the next generation of innovators is right here in Bowie.
A lab coat is far more than a simple garment; it serves as a wearable promise of discovery and a uniform for the pioneers of tomorrow. When these coats are passed to the youth, they act as a tangible bridge between current curiosity and future breakthrough.
Today it’s a fit that’s a little too big; tomorrow, it’s the uniform they’ll use to change the world.
Our interactive cybersecurity session, facilitated by Mrs. T had students thinking like real digital detectives! 🕵🏾♀️ The kids worked together to escape the escape room while learning the importance of creating strong passwords to protect personal information and uncovering hidden codes using invisible ink.
To earn that “Monopoly Money,” students had to face off against Dr. Huggins (a leader in math, gamification, and education) and her high-stakes math quizzes. The reward? Using those hard-earned math skills to “purchase” all the best toys and snacks! 🧸🍪
From calculating costs to cashing in on prizes, these young scholars proved that when you make math a game, everyone wins!
Huge thanks to Farmer Mel from @melnnemfarms for showing us how to cultivate & harvest the land! We even grew our own legumes in mini greenhouses! 👩🌾👨🌾
